Ah, Valentine’s Day, a day that only people with significant others like. Tbh I’ve always liked Valentine’s Day even though I never had a valentine lol, but now that I have a boyfriend it does make things better!
We’re still in the middle of a pandemic obvs, so depending on where you’re located, you should try make the most of this day of love with your loved ones! I think it’s special to see your good friends and your family in a different light. We appreciate each other a little bit more and are grateful. We need to show our love and appreciation to those who have been good to us this past year and have been there for us during our highs and lows. 2020 was a tough year and I think we haven’t really shown our gratitude to the people who have helped us during this tough time.
I’ve come up with a few cute ideas that you can try this weekend, and any weekend tbh!
Movie marathon
Who doesn’t like an old fashioned movie marathon? Always a classic. I’d watch Harry Potter but The Godfather trilogy is always incredible, there’s also Marvel films in chronological order and Star Wars! Also, Disney movies, in general, could be spectacular! You and your loved ones watch each of your favourite Disney movies! Grab some popcorn and any snacks you desire and enjoy your evening. I always love a movie night where you just wind down and enjoy!
Have a themed dinner
I saw a lot of people have been doing this in lockdown and it looks like so much fun! You can do French, Mexican, Italian, whatever your heart desires! Dress up and make it a vibe. I’ve also seen people doing different cocktails for their friend groups and those looked really yum. Go all out and make it extra! I think this could be a memorable night.
Paint your nails
Try a cute brunch with your friends and paint your nails. Make some yum breakfast and try some funky nail inspo (even if it doesn’t work out). I love painting my nails and I think you could be very creative and make the most of it! I might have something up my sleeve for Valentine’s Day nails that are SO easy, so keep an eye out!
Go roller blading
If you’re in Cape Town, there’s this place by the Waterfront called Rollercade where it’s the four wheel rollerblading and it’s so cool! If you can do that anywhere besides South Africa, I’d definitely give it a try! It’s such an amazing skill to have and it’s really funky. Dress up and enjoy it. Definitely a great experience and I am going ASAP!
Go rose picking
I went to the Chart Farm with my boyfriend a few weeks ago and it was adorable. I loved every minute of it! You can pick whichever rose you like and make a little bouquet for yourself. It was reasonably priced and my roses lasted rather long despite them being in full bloom already! There’s also Adene’s Flowers which is further out in Wellington but you can make a day out of it. They have gorgeous dahlias and such a beautiful variety of flowers. I’d love to go and try it out. Even just buying yourself flowers or a friend can make the biggest difference. Flowers brighten up a room and I think they make everyone smile!
Romantic dinner
If you’re a bit lazy in the kitchen and restaurants are open, go for a romantic dinner to a place you’ve been meaning to try! We’ve been stuck at home recently so getting out can be so rewarding. There’s so much variety with restaurants so go with what your heart desires and what you haven’t been eating so frequently at home. Dress up a bit and spoil yourself.
Go for a stroll
I’ve been enjoying my walks lately. Getting some fresh air is so rewarding and it makes such a difference. I went for a walk this morning and it was so beautiful. With a friend or by yourself, it’s so underrated. You can clear your head, chat or listen to some music. I think it’s so simple but it can put you in a great mood! Alternatively, go for a bike ride! Riding a bike is peaceful and you can enjoy the view.
Go for a swim
I’ve been swimming a lot with my dad lately and I’ve noticed such a difference! It really freshens you up, as well as wakes you up lol, depending on the temperature of the water. It’s got great benefits and it’s out of the norm for some people. It’s a new adventure in a smaller form! You never know, you might love it and start doing it every day!
I hope you have a special weekend and make the most out of it. I know a lot of people blow it off as a stupid holiday, but it’s a holiday that reminds us to give a bit of extra love to the special people in our lives and I don’t see anything wrong with that. See you soon beauties, lots of love!
