We often underestimate the sun’s capabilities but I think everyone needs to get involved in protecting themselves. More and more people each day are becoming aware of taking care of one’s skin. We buy dozens of products to make our skin look better but we often forget about protecting our skin to prevent further damage, and that’s where the sun comes into play.
The sun is extremely powerful and we often forget that, but we can’t risk damaging our skin to the point of irreparable damage and even skin cancer. Now for all of the pale people, you know what I’m talking about, the same thing your mom spoke to you growing up every time the sun came out. Put in your sunscreen. And yes, I am telling you to wear sunscreen! I do enjoy tanning and I love to have some colour, who doesn’t? But is it really worth it in 30 years when your skin is sagging at 40 and you look like a raisin?
I wear sunscreen every day. I do like getting colour on my body but I put sunscreen on and I get colour with the protection of sunscreen! My face, however, is as white as a piece of paper. If you see a film photo of me, I don’t know what you see because I look like a ghost lol.
So I’ve done extensive research, and I mean extensive, to find some suitable sunscreens for you! From all price points and all brands!
- Heliocare
I use this sunscreen every day! It’s quite pricey ngl but I think it’s worth taking care of your skin! It’s a gel/cream consistency and applies well, it’s smooth and doesn’t leave a white cast. It also smells really good! It comes in a cream colour but there’s also a version with a tint. I really love it! I have the advanced version but there are so many options and textures to choose from! Click below for the link! You can get this anywhere as it is international.
2. La Roche Posay
Ah, the French brand everyone knows and loves. Also a great choice, I had the fluid version which I enjoyed but I personally prefer a gel texture. If you like a liquid sunscreen then this is the one for you, you shake it and it also comes in regular or tinted. However, they also have a wide range of options! It’s a very reliable company and is affordable and a good option! Click below to go to their website. For the South Africans, you can find their products at Dischem.

3. Ultra Violette
I truly think the leaders of sunscreen are the Australians. They are known for the sun and surfing, they need to have good sunscreen! I discovered this company from Matilda On Video. They have a wide variety of options, as well as aesthetic packaging. I have been wanting to try this sunscreen for a while and I don’t know how to get my hands on it as they don’t ship to South Africa or the UK! I might just go to Australia for the sunscreen. So if you can get your hands on this product, I would definitely go for Ultra Violette. Click on the link below to take you to the site, I don’t know why it just says all but I promise it’s not spam lol.
4. Krave
Krave is an upcoming brand that has taken the skincare world by storm. One of their best sellers is their sunscreen! It’s called The Beet Shield. It’s also a fluid sunscreen and has beetroot extract for its antioxidants (that’s another way to incorporate more veggies into your life lol). Again, I’m not a fan of the liquid sunscreen but if you’re up for it, give it a try!
Some other interesting brands are Dr Jart and Versed! If you don’t want their sunscreen, at least take a look at their skincare because damn, some of those products are on my list!
That’s all for today my beauties! Look after yourself and your skin, stay safe.
